Methodologies

The key to Saama's success is found in a quartet of methodologies we have developed and used during our decade of consulting and systems integration practice. These methodologies are the foundation elements of our success in any engagement we undertake with our clients.

Saama's methods have been developed by our own staff, often in collaboration with industry leaders from partner companies involved in the business intelligence field. Each of the four methodologies we use addresses a critical area of our process. The resulting benefits include a proven approach to our engagement based on well-seasoned practices that are embodied in a standard work structure, mature applications templates, and clear definitions of what success means to Saama, and to your company.

LOBI - The Ladder of Business Intelligence

A successful project starts with establishing a complete understanding of the current maturity level of the business roles within your organization, a task that the Ladder of Business Intelligence is designed to do in detail. The LOBI framework, which was developed in conjunction with Saama Advisory Board member Jim Cates, uses several tools to analyze the business information resources and needs of your organization, measure the gap between those needs and the current state of your information systems, and create a roadmap leading to the data models that are required to fulfill those needs.

LOBI pinpoints the areas in your organization that have the largest gaps as well as those that have already closed it, and gone beyond basic information requirements and moved up the ladder to better management through a clear, information-based understanding of the business. The result is a comprehensive set of business objectives to be fulfilled during our engagement that are based on the measured state of your business intelligence information.

BI Execution Methodology

Once we have used LOBI to establish the business objectives of the engagement with your company, Saama's BI Execution Methodology provides the framework we use to reach them. We use this method to analyze your BI users and assess their readiness for BI functionality, and then to determine how well organized your groups are for creating a healthy and productive BI environment. That information, along with the state of each group's BI maturity as measured by LOBI, gives us the information and insight we need to determine the best technology for fulfilling your organization's BI needs.
